El presente trabajo es resultado de una actividad ideada conforme la Teoría de Situaciones Didácticas en la Enseñanza de la Matemática mediada por tecnología: la calculadora científica. Se trata de una actividad con múltiples abordajes posibles que puede ser tratada en cursos de nivel intermedio o superior de la escuela secundaria. El objetivo es reflexionar acerca de los múltiples sentidos que puede adoptar un problema propio del Álgebra y de las expresiones simbólicas. Explorar el uso de la calculadora como una herramienta para contribuir a la formación de conjeturas iniciales. Proponer diferentes estrategias de resolución, identificando el conocimiento matemático necesario en cada caso. Identificar el rol de la calculadora científica escolar como una herramienta más potente y versátil que el solo uso rudimentario que suele hacerse de ella.

Una inecuación, es una desigualdad establecida entre dos expresiones algebraicas. Desde el punto de vista de la solución buscada, la diferencia fundamental es que una inecuación tiene una solución conjuntista que a diferencia de las ecuaciones polinómicas, son soluciones con un número infinito de posibilidades, es decir, como estamos resolviendo inecuaciones sobre la recta real, las soluciones son intervalos, o en su defecto el conjunto vacío. Ahora bien, la calculadora CASIO CLASSWIZ, dispone de un módulo capaz de resolver este tipo de inecuaciones desde su representación más sencilla; es decir; cuando una expresión cuadrática, cúbica o de grado 4 es mayor, mayor o igual, menor, menor o igual que cero. Además de obtener dicho resultado usaremos el código QR para constatar la solución de la inecuación de forma gráfica.
